Mount Pulag is the third highest peak in the Philippines at 2,922 metres and one of the most sought-after hiking destinations in the country. Known as the Playground of the Gods, it is famous for its extraordinary sea of clouds at dawn when a blanket of white fills the valleys below and the summit appears to float above it. The mountain features pine forests in the lower elevations giving way to mossy jungle and then open grassland near the summit. The Ambangeg Trail is the most accessible route suitable for beginners and intermediate hikers. The Akiki Trail is significantly more demanding and should only be attempted by experienced hikers. Temperatures at the summit can drop sharply — warm layers are essential regardless of season. Permits from the DENR and a registered local guide are mandatory. Located in Kabayan, Benguet.
